MiSS AiMMEY’S BROWN SMOKEY EYES

MiSS AiMMEY’S BROWN SMOKEY EYES

Brown smokey eyes, my absolute fave look! It goes with every outfit and it looks amazing on every eye colour. You can wear it lighter so you can wear it everyday, or you can have it darker and wear it dancing all night long!  I have tried to restrict the amount of steps to this look and tried and made it as simple to do as possible. Please double up on brushes if you need to as I’ve only made the best suggestions of brushes. The colours I’ve used are quite neutral and will work on warm or cool skin tones.  This is Miss Aimmey’s version of a brown smokey eye that i’ve tried to accomodate for every eye shape but if you have any questions, please feel free to email me and i’d be more than happy to drop some more tips!

1. Apply primer. This is such an important step as it’s going to have your eyeshadows true colours come through and for the eyeshadow not smudge and stay put all day! You really don’t want all your hard work to be gone after only a couple of hours.

2. Apply your have base colour. I’ve applied Toffee Shine from Gorgeous cosmetics but use something that will act as a highlight on your brow area too. I’ve applied it with a flat brush as it applies it evenly. I’m using Brush 027 from Gorgeous Cosmetics.

3. With your darkest brown shade that you want to use for this look, I’ve chosen Fudge from Gorgeous Cosmetics. Using either a rounded brush (MAC 219) or a brush that is angled (Gorgeous Cosmetics B114) Apply the eye shadow on the outer corners of your eyes. You want to do a ‘C’ shape that because this will define your lids and if you don’t have one, like me, it will appear like you have one. If you don’t have a prominent one, apply the top line so you can see it when you have your eyes open. You may need to keep your eyes open when doing this to ensure that the shadow shows slightly. Aim to have the C start no further in than the middle of your eyes as the closer you have it to your inner corner of your eyes, the more it closes off your eyes. Make sure you bring around the ‘C’ to the top of your lash line so that it doesn’t finish abruptly.

People always ask me how far can i go with the eyeshadow, you can extend it slightly just before your eyebrows end. If you eye ends quite short, extend it a little more, if your eye ends where your eye brows end, stop there.

4. Getting a second brown colour, lighter than the outer corner one, such as this MAC Soba/Espresso/Satin Taupe, and a blending fluffy brush (Gorgeous Cosmetics B111) grab some of the product and move the brush back and forth over the ‘C’ you’ve created to soften the edges and make it appear more blended. You want to do a window wiper motion and go back and forth until you’re happy with the blend of the two colours. Also bring the colour to fill in the ‘C’ as this will also help blend the dark colour and the base colour applied earlier.

5. Using a small flat brush, I’m using Gorgeous Cosmetics brush #014, and taking either the darker brown or the lighter brown colour (depending on if you like it darker rimmed under your eyes or not) take the colour under your eyes and rim the outer rim; make sure your brush is flat. Take it only 3/4’s of the way, do not reach the inner corner of your eyes as it keeps it open and not too dark.

6. This is just extra if you’re feeling like something sparkly! My favourite shimmer dust is ‘Suede’ from Gorgeous Cosmetics. I apply this with a flat brush to the inner corners of my eyes. This will not only open your eyes but lessen the darkness of the overall look. If you like it dark and smokey, skip this step.

7. Eyeliner time! You can learn how to do it here! Curl lashes and Apply Mascara. I used Lancome Virtuose but I also love Maybelline Falsies.

8. Blush time! I’ve chosen to use something pinky to give myself some colour but you go ahead and use whatever colour you like. I’m using Dame from MAC. Fresh and girlie – Day or night. You can see how I apply blush here…

9. This is an extra step only if you want to….Apply a pretty pair of lashes that you love! I’m trying these new babies i found at an Asian boutique store, they’re the brand ‘Darkness’. I normally wear Gorgeous Cosmetics ‘Mini’s’ or ‘Glamazon’

10. Apply a nude lip to go with your beautiful smokey eyes. I’ve lined my lips with Max Factor’s Nude Pink and applying my FAVE lipstick ever by MAC – Blankety. If you want more colour, there’s no harm, just apply your fave one!
